The most recent test was done in house and a drop of blood was put in a solution to change color. It was very hard to see that it was positive. The vet thought it was negative, but a tech pointed out a faint blue line that meant positive. I suppose it is possible that this test was incorrect. She died of a very aggressive tumor. In looking over her records, I recalled her as always being healthy, but she did have a clostridium overgrowth once. I think her vet would agree with the positive test results. I think her blood count was consistent with FeLv.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>I don't know what to say about retesting. It is hard when your cat hates the vet. I suppose I would treat the cat as positive, as far as giving supplements, and rush to the vet at any sign of illness. With my healthy cats I give them a couple of days to get better if they have the sniffles. I have read that there are false positives with the Elisa test. My cat tested positive with Elisa but negative with the IFA test.
