<p dir="ltr">Bob, it's encouraging to hear that Jelly is having bright spots among the low points. I hope that he is progressing today and eating a bit more for you. </p>
<p dir="ltr">The mouth sores are common for these guys I guess, it just compounds an already difficult time for them. The pain meds seem to help a bit but then they also make them tired so it's hard to tell real symptoms from side effects.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Cats are a hard bunch to impress, keep passing on our love to him:)</p>

You make a good point... I'd need someones help to visualize the inside<br class="gmail_msg">
of his mouth( any time I open his mouth or mess with his gums he<br class="gmail_msg">

take in nutrition... I know the vet I took him to did not check his<br class="gmail_msg">
mouth.... I can't speak about the vet that the shelter took him to for<br class="gmail_msg">
the original incorrect Dx( He certainly SHOULD have checked his mouth as<br class="gmail_msg">
the presenting complaint was that he was not eating... but can't say for<br class="gmail_msg">
sure. I'm inclined to think that this is not the limiting factor as<br class="gmail_msg">
he doesn't really even show an interest in food and the food that is<br class="gmail_msg">
made available to him right now is VERY easy on his mouth ( ie.. does<br class="gmail_msg">
not require any substantive chewing) That said... I will keep this in<br class="gmail_msg">
the forfront of my brain as something to pay more attention to..... <br class="gmail_msg">
I'm in a race against time with this little guy as he is losing weight<br class="gmail_msg">
rather quickly( which can be the virus alone... but his failure to take<br class="gmail_msg">
in adequate calories is exacerbating the situation...... Today his<br class="gmail_msg">
high spots were even higher but his low times were even lower ( if that<br class="gmail_msg">
makes any sense)... eg... He ate a little and was more sociable for a<br class="gmail_msg">
brief while but when he was over that he really wanted to be left<br class="gmail_msg">
alone.... I don't force him to do anything he doesn't want to do save<br class="gmail_msg">
for brooking NO opposition when it comes to taking his Winstrol Doxy and<br class="gmail_msg">
Pred and at least 30 CC of Baby Food and additional fluids if he is not<br class="gmail_msg">
drinking much ( like today)... I'm going to try to get him some SubQ<br class="gmail_msg">
fluids over at the shelter tomorrow... He's slowing down on his<br class="gmail_msg">
drinking.<br class="gmail_msg">
I tell Jelly how everyone is rooting for him : ) Strangely he does<br class="gmail_msg">
not appear moved by this news : )<br class="gmail_msg">
