Hi all,<br>

Coco is FELV+ kitty #2. My plan for her so she doesn't feel so alone until<br>
I can bring myself to mix (all other kitties have tested negative, some<br>
multiple times) is to buy a large cat condo and put her in it at least a<br>
couple hours a day out here. Now, what I want to ask yall about is<br>
spaying. She is unsprayed. There is NO chance of her getting out (she'd<br>
have to get out of the FELV room, then out of the basement, then upstairs<br>
then out an exterior door upstairs, which is not going to happen, plus when<br>
we leave we go out the garage door to go out so if anyone WERE to follow us<br>
they'd still just be in the garage). As long as I've had her she has never<br>
seemed to go into heat. If she did it was a silent heat. Is it more<br>
stressful to spay her or more stressful to not spay her?<br>

She is a beautiful medium hair orange girl.<br>
<br>
I am going to ask the doctor about Winstrol for her. I am debating taking<br>
her to the holistic vet but she is so expensive here ($400 for an initial<br>
visit). I have her on Standard Process Feline Immune System support 1<br>
tablet 2x day. I am putting a Seresto collar on her if I can keep it on<br>
her We have a bad flea problem here and nothing I am doing is helping. I<br>
have lived all over the south and this is the worst flea problem I've ever<br>
seen. We have tried diatomaceous earth. Advantage doesn't do much at<br>
all. Revolution works for a little while. I have some Advantage spray<br>
which kills adults, larva and eggs to spray on carpeted furniture I am<br>
taking the blankies out of that room and wash them in hot water and dry on<br>
high heat to kill eggs Even our vet does not know what to do. I am<br>
declaring WAR on these flea.<br>

are very good at hiding their pain and illness. I had a FelV cat who<br>
just suddenly died at age 6 and she showed no symtoms of illness, she<br>
simply laid down and died on the kitchen floor. This is the longest<br>
any of my FelV cats lived. Most of them die at 8 to 10 months of age.<br>

All of my cats get spayed/neutered as soon as they are old enough. Unwanted kittens are targets for guns, cars and poison around here. People think of strays, dog or cat s a nuisance, not worthy of respect and life.<br>

My sadness is profound for your loss. My Zander ? he of the wondrous response to Winstrol ? also finally succumbed at age 7 to a very bad heart. The vet said she had never seen anything so bad, and yet there were no indications of any heart problem for the whole time. My first thought ? like you ? was that I must have missed something and I even blamed the Winstrol for the dilated cardiomyopathy. I went on line and searched and searched but couldn?t find a link. I suspect now that the virus distorted his heart as part of its pathology. When I read about your Merlin, that seemed to fit with the theory that the virus does this to them.<br>

Don?t beat yourself up. I couldn?t have been closer to my Zander and my husband and I were doting parents and were constantly with him, but we saw nothing.<br>
<br>
Whenever I lose one of my darling babies, I have to constantly remind myself that if not for me, they would have been out on the street or put down at an early age. If not for me, they wouldn?t have had days of sunshine and happiness and love and nourishment. You know that too.<br>
<br>
Still, it doesn?t ease the pain much, I know.<br>
