I try to do that too -- although I am surrounded by Amish farms who do not neuter their animals, and I have so many strays coming here - mostly for food. I do neuter as many as I can after they have been here for a while.

Re:  spay/neuter, First I give them 2 weeks for an owner to show up and then it is off to the vet for an exam and spay/neuter.  I do not want to be a contributor to unwanted kittens/puppies plus they will live longer healthier lives.
