[Felvtalk] Twigs and Asthma

Hi Ashley....

I'd be a lot more concerned about the Stomatitis than the Asthma (
unless it is compromising his ability to Sleep and Play)  My little 9mo
old had a couple of "retching" fits a day that are consistent with
Feline Asthma but he hasn't yet been Xrayed ( which is really the only
way to be sure,,,,i understand).... He runs around like a maniac....has
a good appetite and does not appear compromised by the minimal symptoms
( it was FAR worse when I got him...but after dusting and vacuuming to
the ends of the earth he improved quite a bit)... The Asthma meds are
quite expensive as is the apparatus one uses to administer the inhaler(
don't recall the name at the moment) so if he can do without it....so
much the better....  You don't want to load a FeLV Kitty with meds
unless they REALLY are helpful....   I keep my guys on L-lysine ( though
there is some question now as to the usefulness of the Amino Acid)  and
an Herbal Immune Booster and Lung support ( also Herbal) from Pet Well
Being..... I'd be hard pressed to say if they are doing anything but _
I_ wanted to feel as I was doing something when I became a new " Cat
Daddy" to them.....    Have no personal experience with Stomatitis but
do know that the two cats with the disease at the shelter who did not
improve on meds DID improve markedly after they had their teeth
extracted....  It's not something to undertake lightly but almost
invariably _ some_ teeth end up needing extraction.....  There are a lot
of people here to offer resources and their own experiences....read ALL
the posts and gather information you'll feel a lot better for it......
It's helped me a lot I know...
