I suggest you try a ¼ tablet of metoclopramide for the vomiting. It is given a little before feeding, and enhances the emptying of the stomach and increases peristaltic action. It works very quickly and is pretty effective in controlling vomiting by moving the food along the digestive tract.

Then, do your damndest to get the WInstrol. Use 2 mg of Winstrol daily with 1 mg of prednisolone and the metoclompramide (also known as Reglan, I think).

Winstrol is available in the U.S., but needs to be obtained from a compounding pharmacy. I learned about it by accident, when my FeLV positive little boy was in major crisis, and after trying both Interferon and LTCI for months and closely monitoring his blood and getting NO response at all from either the Interferon or the LTCI. I had also given him some blood transfusions, but he had reacted to the final one and so I was told that was the end of the road for blood transfusions since the next one would kill him. I had nothing left and was not being given any options. I literally rummaged through my drawer of meds and found a container of Winstrol tablets a vet had given me years back for a cat who died too soon after the vet appointment, to even have pulled out the meds. I expected absolutely nothing but had nothing else to try. I was beyond shocked when my little boy started pinking up (gums and ears) and his blood work, after only three days, started showing an increase in red cells and haematocrit. I reported this development eventually to the "specialist" we had seen for Zander's condition (the same one who told me that there were no options and I must now consider Zander's quality of life rather than continuing to fight). The specialist then pronounced to me that I had gone "old school" and years back, vets had used Winstrol to treat FeLV but had stopped when there were reports of liver damage. I thought this was bizarre and stupid. Since I had come to him with a dying cat, I didn't know why I should avoid giving him something which "might" damage his liver, when without it, he would be dead anyway.

I therefore had the experience of pulling back Zander from death from severe anemia from the FeLV, and as a former lab tech, I made sure to run weekly blood work to track the results. I was therefore able to adjust dosage, and see that when I tried to wean him off too early, his red cell numbers would start to fall again. Eventually, after almost a year on Winstrol, Zander could be weaned off and all three cell lines held. Over time, I would put Zander on Winstrol/Prednisone for a four to six week time frame, if ever I grew concerned that he was looking pale again.

I too had severe vomiting problems with Zander, but found that putting him on the Metoclompromide did the trick.

Amani, I talked to a vet at Cornell U at their consult services today for a second opinion since things are not going well for Cole. He throws up almost every night after eating just a little ( tonight he threw up just in anticipated food-- no food-- because he is so nausea). He is going to starve to death with interferon and syringe feeding that has turned into force feeding!
Anyway Cornell U mentioned pednisone too but not winstrol
How did you learn of this and I assume it is available in US? It took my vet a week to get interferon (that I now read will cause nausea, so now afraid to start it) , so afraid Cole dies nit have another week to find winstrol! Cornell U vet recommended every other day fluids, milk thistle and or denamarin to support liver, cerenia injection to help with vomiting, cyproheptading to stimulate appetite. And like i said earlier, prednisone. Also, no supportive research but go ahead and give interferon that my vet ordered cause some have success with. I would live ti see the rest of your posts but dont know how to find. I have to do something different tomorrow than just force feed and orbax amd interferon or I am certain i will loose Cole and then probably his 2 brothers will follow from the Stress Because they are so extremely bonded. I am not going to repeat what many others have already read from me, over and over again in this group.

If you haven't seen my previous posts, and you want further information, I shall do my best to dig up my previous posts and re-post. However, the short answer from me is a recommendation to use Winstrol (Stanazolol). It is an anabolic steroid, which your vet (a) may never have heard of or (b) will give you a hard time about giving it to you. Your vet needs to get it from a compounding pharmacy. I suggest a dose of 2 mg a day for your cat because there are some very concerning numbers in the lab results you posted, especially the very very low platelet results, and low RBC and Haematocrit numbers. Winstrol will directly help increase the red cell count and haematocrit. It will also significantly increase appetite. It will usually start having a positive effect very rapidly.

Don't wait. Your vet will probably give you the run-around on getting the Winstrol, and will likely suggest that Winstrol will worsen the liver enzymes (which are already increased). However, any increase in liver enzymes is likely to be temporary and they will drop back down when the Winstrol is discontinued.

I come to you for suggestions for our Cole. We got Cole as a litter rescue from our yard
We feed the strays and a little very young mother left them at our door
We already had some house cats so built a kennel to shelter them Outside and began To look for homes for them. Then two litter kittens showed up and old tom. A no kill shelter took the littler kittens. They found out one if them tested positive for feline leukemia. We tested rest of ours and all but the one female tested positive. So we cleaned out our garage, insulated, heated, air conditioned and sheltered them there. No matter what we did little Tig was so sick That he died before he was a yr old. He was such a sweet little cat that considered everything and anyone a toy--so sad. The rest tested negative the next two test. We all lived happily for next 3 1/2 years. Until this week Cole stopped eating.

Took him to vet and here is bad part.

The vet gave Cole subcutaneous fluids, polyflex/dexasone injection, b complex injection, and clavamox drops on last wednesday.

But he cant eat and i am syringe feeding AD prscription Food. First few days was able to get him to take 2 syringes but then threw up and have not been able to get him past One syringe since then without him throwing up. He threw up food three times and phlem or hair. He is very alert, drinking, urinating 2-4 times a day, no BM until one little turd today
He bathes Self after he eats, shinny healthy looking hair. Took Cole back today and vet did same as before but We changed to Orbax instead of clavamox. I was very excited tonight cause he attempted to eat But only licked gravy of purina Fancy feast., but was start. Later this evening after syringe feed only 3 ml he threw up what looked like two meals!! He seems to have a good day, but then has setback with throwup--- three times he has done that . He has lost a pound in 6 days!!. So worried cause he cant eat on own and keeps throwing up.

His brother Ash tested positive again too but his bloodwork is all in normal range and seems ti be doing fine. His other brother BJ tested negative and bloodwork all normal range. Vet suggested no treatment for them. I housed them together and seperated Cole.

I am so worried that we are going to loose Cole because he cant eat and keeps throwing up syringed food. Also worried about Ash's positive test for feline leukemia again.
Sorry for lenght but thought you wpuld need all info.
Please advise as soon as possible. Thank you from Cole, his family and I

Don't listen about the steroids and the liver. Stanazolol brought my cat back from a red cell count of 10. If there is a problem with the liver, what is the downside here? If the Stanazolol doesn't work and the liver gets worse, there is probably little or anything else that will work. If the Stanazolol works, you will have another opportunity to deal with the liver down the road and I frankly think that once your cat starts eating again, this will be supportive for the liver as well.

Additionally, the Stanazolol should be given with 1 mg of Prednisone daily, which is also helpful to the liver.

How did you know there was enlarged lymth nodes? Bloodwoork or X-ray or exam? All I have is blood work listed here. Vet does not want to use steroids of any kind she said cause liver is already struggling per blood work and steroids can cause liver illness. I have tried AD and baby food-- he threw them up. So now I am using ID cause vet said easy to digest. I blend it and strain so it probably is nit the best calories with water added too but first two syringes today has stayed down. But night is when he looses any daytime gains so we will see. If I can't figure out soon if not already too late how to get more calories in him I am afraid he will pass point of no return. We have interferon ordered but taking forever to get here-- been a week. Thanks for all your quick kind support
