When Franny, a cat I had long ago, became ill with hepatic libidosis, also known as fatty liver disease, I did much the same things that your vet did with Harley - force fed her with a syringe after I took her home, brought her to the vet once a week for a B-Complex shot and each day I mixed into her food a dissolved tablet of vitamin B-12, 1000mcg. They had given Franny a 40% chance of survival because she had gone from a 12 pound cat to a 5 pound cat. She was very fluffy and lived in our organization office with her sister Zoey so we could not tell that she had been losing weight until it was at the critical stage. After she had been at the vet for over a week, they gave her to me and told me that she would most likely pass away. However, my mom had been a nurse in a hospital that cared for alcoholics. She said that any disease that has attacked the liver or spleen or pancreas would respond well to high doses of B-12. She said that was the treatment
they gave alcoholics with cirrhosis of the liver where she worked. So I began Franny on a regimen of syringe feeding and vitamins. I took her and her sister home with me. Franny was around 4 years old when she got the life threatening illness. She passed away at 17 years old of old age and kidney failure. Don't give up on Milkdud and don't look at him every day as a hopeless case. He's home, he's grooming. That's small victory in itself. Hugs to you and Harley and Milkdud.
